The Flying Bushman
ABOUT THE ARTIST

Charles Boloebi Okah aka The Flying Bushman,
is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, sculpture, metalsmithing, ceramics, stained glass, and mixed media. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, and currently based in Toronto, Canada, his practice bridges cultures, mediums, and dimensions.
His artist name draws inspiration from the myth of the Flying Dutchman - a ship cursed to sail endlessly, always searching for land but never arriving. He likens this to the creative journey: always searching, always becoming.
The Bushman's sculptural work reflects a love for the puzzle-like nature of form and structure, while his paintings echo the rhythm and color of his environment.
A testament to its universal resonance and cultural depth, The Flying Bushman’s work has been featured around the world in galleries, exhibitions, central landmarks, city buses, buildings and all of his friend’s houses.
His approach to art extends beyond conventional boundaries, creating a unique and impactful presence.
Sometimes surreal, always deeply human.
Working within and beyond traditional gallery spaces, he continues to expand how and where art is experienced. His pieces carry cultural memory and a forward-looking curiosity, grounded in process and full of soul.
